Best Places to Eat on the Treasure Coast

When we first moved to the area, we struggled with finding localized restaurants that we really enjoyed. Port Saint Lucie has a wide selection of nearly every major chain restaurant you can imagine, but when we are traveling, we prefer to find some unique places which are unique that that particular area, so here is our go-to list of the places we most enjoy eating on the Treasure Coast. This article is arranged by city from north to south.

Sebastian & Fellsmere

There are actually several restaurants which we enjoyed during our visit to Sebastian. For breakfast, be sure to swing by the Country Ham N’ Egg Restaurant. We are always big fans of home-cooked meals, and this place had an excellent, home-cooked breakfast atmosphere. The service was excellent. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we would totally go again.

For lunch, we headed over to Ay Jalisco in Sebastian, and it did not disappoint. Mexican food is a regular staple of the AikenAdventure diet, but not all Mexican food is created equal. While we have eaten at many Mexican restaurants which we would not recommend, we recommend this one with full-confience.

On the other side of I-95, is the little city of Fellsmere, Florida, known for its annual frog legs festival–you’re probably getting the picture, now. In this town is the excellent Marsh Landing Restaurant. It is actually listed on the highway exit sign, and it’s worth the stop even if you’re just passing through. This is an excellent location for comfort food and southern, home-style cooking.

Vero

Vero has several localized options to choose from. Our favorites happen to be mostly on US1. Ay Jalisco Mexica restaurant is a great Mexican Food option. Although a Casa Amigos is opening or has opened out by the Indian River Mall, and if it is anything as good as the one in Port Saint Lucie, we would give it 5 stars and all the thumbs up!

Also, Chef Lin’s Asian Buffet isn’t too bad. It’s a little dark, dingy, and dated inside, but we’ve never had a problem with the food quality.

The real story in Vero is Wilke’s 14 Bones! This is an excellent family-friendly BBQ restaurant with generous quantities. It is definitely one of our absolute top picks for the entire Treasure Coast.

Fort Pierce

For Mexican food, Pueblo Viejo is a chain of Mexican restaurants throughout the Saint Lucie County area, and they’re fairly decent. Another decent Mexican restaurant is Casa Azteca in downtown Fort Pierce.

Downtown, Second Street Bistro is pretty good. It’s a little pricey for what it is–think bar-and-grill-style food.

In the downtown area, the best options are the breakfast locations. Sunrise Cafe is fantastic. They have actually garnered a great reputation because of the delicious food, and actually had to expand their dining space. It’s been pretty busy each time that we’ve gone, but they do a good job of getting you seated and fed pretty efficiently.

The Captain’s Galley is another fantastic breakfast location. Good quality food and efficient service.

For lunch, head to Moonswiners or Dale’s Barbecue. They used to be basically be one and the same, and although, still quite similar to one another, ownership has changed hands and the differences seem to be growing. We typically choose Dale’s for a quick lunch and I usually get the sliced pork special with the coleslaw and French fries. The seasoning salt on the table never disappoints! You’ll have to try both restaurants and settle once and for all the local dispute as to which one has the best coleslaw.

Port Saint Lucie

Hands-down, skip everything else and just head to Casa Amigos on US1. I’m sure there are great restaurants throughout the Port Saint Lucie area, but if our family is making the drive, this is where we’re going. We typically order the fajitas for two, and there’s usually enough to feed a small village. The portion sizes are quite generous here, so either bring your appetite or bring a friend and share. Another favorite is the California burrito. It nearly fills the entire table–I’m exaggerating…. a little…. but it is big. you’re welcome!

Jensen Beach

While we can’t afford to go there often, Kyle G’s in Jensen Beach is totally worth every cent. I usually don’t say that about fine dining establishments. I’ve had very few memorable meals in my lifetime even though I eat several times every day, but this was a memorable meal, and we long to return ASAP.

We were a little terrified when we realized that there was valet parking at the front since we don’t usually like to spent money to park our car or a day’s wage on one meal, but it was Valentine’s Day and we had been given a gift certificate.

When we ordered, the server recommended that we share our sides, and I assumed that it was because he had seen the rattletrap the valets had to park and that he was somehow judging us, so I pushed back a little and we ordered for two people.

We should have listened to him, though because he was definitely right. Each side was enough to share, and the cuts of steak were pretty generous, too. We enjoyed the meal so much that it hardly mattered that there were also gorgeous oceanside views.

Conchy Joe’s is another Jensen Beach favorite. the building has a tiki-hut feel with plenty of beachy atmosphere going on and waterfront views as the restaurant sits on the banks of the Indian River Lagoon. The food is decent and the price-point is about what you would expect for a seafood restaurant in Florida.

Stuart

When we are in Stuart, we typically hit up Sakura Buffet. In fact, it’s our opinion that this is, in fact the best Asian Buffet on the entire Treasure Coast.

Casa Tequilla is the go-to Mexican food joint for us in Stuart–doesn’t quite compare to Casa Amigos in our opinion, but it’s pretty good.

Southern Pig and Cattle Company is the go-to barbecue spot for us.

Hobe Sound

Possibly one of the coolest restaurants on the entire Treasure Coast is Harry and the Natives. When the weather is nice, definitely choose the outdoor seating. The food was great, but it was the décor and setting that put this one over the top for me.

Conclusion:

There you have it–our top picks for restaurants across the Treasure Coast. I know that we didn’t include Jupiter or any of the Palm Beaches, but that’s because that is an entirely different subject altogether.
